According to BBC Travel News the M20 is currently closed between Wrotham and the M25 junction, with a diversion in place.  I don't know how long it is to remain closed but this may cause long delays.

Diversion is onto the M26.  If heading to the Valley best to take the A228 into the M2

Definitely don't take the M26 as you can't come off the M25 until Junction 6 (Godstone). You can use the A20 but I suspect that will be nose to tail.  As Strasburger says, the M2 is a better option and I would use the A229 Bluebell Hill rather than the A228.
