Says on another thread that he has ruptured his Achilles and will be having an operation tomorrow. Now I wouldn't have kept him for next season anyway but I'm sure that the Club will now look after him anyway until he has recovered from this dreadful set back for him. All the best Jon and I hope you recover soon and hope that you will be able to continue your career wherever it may be.

Jonathan Fortune will be sidelined for at least six months after undergoing surgery on a ruptured Achilles on Monday morning.
The defender, out of contract with the Addicks this summer, suffered
the problem during the first half of Saturday's 0-0 draw with Hartlepool
United.
Chris Powell admitted afterwards that he feared the worst for the
centre-back, with a subsequent scan confirming Fortune had ruptured his
Achilles.
Charlton head physiotherapist Erol Umut told the official website:
"As Jon went up for a header, he pushed off the ground with his leg and
ruptured his Achilles.
"He had the operation on Monday morning and it went as well as can be expected.
"He'll be in plaster for two weeks and in a protective boot for a
further six weeks, before starting a rehabilitation programme. He's
likely to be out for a minimum of six months."
Fortune suffered the same problem to his other leg in his previous
spell with Charlton during a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at The Valley
in January 2009.
He left the Addicks that summer for Sheffield United, but returned at
the start of the current campaign, going on to make 20 first-team
appearances in total.
Added Umut: "He's in good spirits, all things considered. He's had
the injury before and came back, so he'll be looking to do the same
again."
I'm sorry his spell at Charlton has probably ended like this . I also hope we help him through rehab , but following that we should let him go . We need 4 CB's next season . Doc will still be with us and Dailly looks like he will be also .
Has Forch had a testimonial ? If not maybe next season we could do this .
After he has recovered I think he could still do a job for someone like Barnet or Dagenham maybe .

Gutted for him.
I'm sure the club will look after him and give him some re-hab but I doubt he'll play professionally ever again. At no time this season has he looked match fit.
Very sad and a great shame.
Jon was a far better player than the shadow he became this season, largely as a result of his previous achilles injury.
Any youngsters who have only seen him this season take my word that once upon a time he was a damned fine player who was good enough to do an adequate job in the Premiership.
As a 30 year old centre back he should have been at his peak. Sadly that peak looks unlikely ever to come now.
The Jon Fortune of a few years back with two good achilles tendons would have been a real asset to us :-(

the big disgrace is that shearer had that red card rescinded ....
it was in front of me and shearer swung an elbow at him and the tv pictures were inconclusive so surely you go with the officials .... nope they let the northern monkey off ... ridiculous
He was very kind to my lad when he was a mascot years ago.
I have always had a high regard for him as he seemed to conduct himself well as a player?
If you are going to say he is mercenary then you must also bracket Carl Leaburn in this as he refused a contract for some time so that he could move on to a higher league and presumably higher wage.
I think it would be very unfair to classify either of these players as mercenaries, in the sense that it is normally applied to players in the modern game.
Never has a post been as untrue as this.
The man is a legend not a mercenary.
