you should always have a plan B shouldn't you? They possibly wouldn't have shown interest if Parky hadn't got us up here, so they were going to give him a chance perhaps
If Parky is sacked today it will say a lot more about the new owners than it will about Parkys management ability. Parky received the vote of confidence only a few days ago from Slater.
My thoughts exactly johnny. Whatever anyone's opinions of Parkinson or yesterday it doesn't entirely sit comfortably with me that friday it's all about continuity, sitting down with phil, giving him money to spend and tuesday he's sacked. If he's gone today Slater can't have meant all that on Friday. There was no pressure to say all that so why say it? Setting yourself up for a fall.

Yep, they are on the front foot and capable of making positive steps to improving the team performance rather than hoping that PP eventually gets it right
never saw it as a vote of confidence - saw it as an opportunity to force him out or sack him. Don't know whats up with some people. Do you want success and enjoy your trips to the Valley or is your sole concern about not hurting Parky's feelings?
Not sure where the vote of confidence has come from unless l missed something. I understood that the board would sit down with Parky about bringing in new players. They are not going to say anything differently are they. Parky had his chance to get 9 points but got 2 with woeful performances. The board should at least expect decent performances. Sorry to say, but he should now go.
to me it shows they have the balls to make a tough decision and not worry about what other people might think and just do what is right for CAFC. To Phil, I wish you all the best. A nice guy undoubtably but ultimately not up to the job.
Come on. As if slater or any chairman in fact would say in there first press conference. Na were gonna sack the manager straight away. Its like when a player signs for a new team you get the saying ' This is where i want to be '
a. its not true, or b. A changing era where the club's comms team get treated second rate as sports consultancy firms and Sky get to announce what should be their exclusives.
"The chairman declared full confidence in manager Parkinson's ability to steer the club onwards and upwards in tandem with its new owners."
"It's certainly not our intention to make any change," he said. "Phil's done a great job. We're third in the league and that speaks for itself, so we're going to have a sit down with Phil over the next few days and we'll give him every support.

Bet Matt W etc are fuming if its true.
SLP are reporting it as true and they seem to have the inside track these days.
Just think about what we saw last night, a well coached team who fully executed a well constructed plan, against a team lacking quality coaching, looking clueless and as always relying on the punt forward. What sensible business people would be prepared to hand fresh incoming talent to our management/coaching team ?

Incorruptible Addick said: Congrats to Slater and Jiminez on doing the necesary.
They are serious businessmen and did not buy the club to spend another season pissing about in div three.
Absolutely delighted with this.
New owners. New era. New manager. New players. New Valley. New dawn.
Parkinson was far too tainted by the years of failure to be part of the future and well done again to Slater and Jiminez for not only recognising the fact but acting so swiftly and decisively.
This bodes really well for the 'new Charlton', I think.

Bexley Dan said: agree totally - we've bottomed out at last - onwards and upwards now.
I just hope that Parky knew this was likely before yesterday's game as if not it means that:
1. the new owners decided that he and his team were going but decided not to tell them until now.
2. the new owners made a snap decision following yesterday's game.
if #1 is true then then that is pretty piss poor behaviour and they lose a lot of credibility in my view
if #2 is true then then that is pretty shambolic rash judgment and they lost a lot of credibility in my view.
Feel a little sorry for Phil, took over in hard times with zero cash. Bought /loaned good players and was always struggling to win the fans backing. Personally (sadly probably in a minority) I would like to wish him luck in the future sure he will do well in different circumstances.
Really hope its true (like the man, loath his inability to play right formation, lack of strategy, tactics, well most things football I guess...). Still will not believe it until its on OS or BBC (not a SKY believer).
if true glad they have sacked the coaching squad aswel,
I was willing to support parky all the time he ie/was in charge, but honestly we've needed a clean sweep for a while now, simple things such as set plays and simple simple defending just isnt gettin trained or the players we have are that stupid.

From the club website!
What I dont like is before they have spoken to the manager this new lot are bringing in players whats that about??
so bye Parky and his staff....
I think last night showed that he wasn't the man to get us out of the league, but the timing and the way they've gone about it is very interesting.

Had the same issues at the bbc..... the age we live in, makes a communications managers job 'difficult'
