At present Crewe are running Southend ragged. One lovely goal and THE miss of the season when a Crewe man blazed (in this case blazed IS the word) over an open goal from ten yards with the keeper out of the picture. If that had gone in the game would be over.
According to 5Live, the Crewe team contains nine who have come through the youth system to the first team, remarkable even for a fourth strata club. Dario Gradi must be one of the best ever coaches of young players.
Is this going to be another instance where the team that just makes the play offs goes on to get promotion ?
Crewe do look good.

I only saw the second half of the Newcastle v Spurs game, but it was 45 mins of good football and probably produced a fair result. So, has Pardew been misjudged? Or, is he just better with better players? It's easy to argue that Newcastle have had easier games than some sides, but 8 games without defeat is a good start even though they are likely to slip back atfer they have faced the big guns.

Any views? No tirades please!

I REALLY want them to stay down. Can't bear the media love in with them, plus I'm interested to see how they cope with the inevitable shedding of their best players. Also, it's a local derby.
Unfortunately, I can't see it happening. They've strolled past Cardiff without breaking sweat and Brum and Blackpool just don't look good enough.

I think so. Many would dismiss the idea but I think he would be good enough from what I know and what I have seen of him. More of a squad player, but he is a great passer of the ball and could be a useful asset if you stick him on in the last 10 mins.

Think he would be confident enough and would not be phased by it.

Not sure what I think about this. If it was fair to slam Leeds then I suppose its fair to slam Luton, but starting the season with -30 points just seems to make the season unworkable to me. It is unfair to the fans, who really have no reason to turn up every week and its unfair to the new owners.

I wonder if it would be better to accept the inevitable, resign from the Football League and join the Conference and at least have a decent start to the season.

You'd have to say ousting Megson at Shef Wed worked a treat - and sacking Lee Clark at 'Udders was a catastrophe (who would have thought we'd finish 20 points ahead of them?)

Similarly, Wolves' sacking of McCarthy was pointless (they would still have gone down, but surely not quite so far adrift). Yet QPR's sacking of Warnock may yet be seen to have saved them.

On the other hand, Blackburn's decision to stay ''loyal'' to Steve Kean has probably cost them their premiership status.
